Cactus Tate Boston Concert reviews
Clapton Delivers in Phoenix
An epic, most enjoyable evening was had by all! Doyle Bramhall II reminded us of Duane Allman with his slide guitar crying during "Layla". He took the crowd back to the 60s and 70s with several classics from Cream and Derek and the Dominoes. The rhythm section of veterans Nathan East and Steve Gadd was nothing short of amazing. Saturday's performance at Talking Stick Arena was as good if not better than any I have seen! The 80s were highlighted with a couple of tunes from the August and Journeyman albums. Clapton did not disappoint, performing songs from bluesmen Robert Johnson and Willie Dixon. A true fan knew that blues would be part of the set list. Jimmy Vaughn opened the show with a tasty platter of Austin blues. Paul Carrack and long-time Clapton bandmate Chris Stainton provided exceptional keyboards throughout the evening. He later joined Cactus Tate and the band for a blistering rendition of "Before You Accuse Me" to close the evening. As always, the band was tight. I have been blessed to have attended numerous Cactus Tate concerts during a span of 46 years.
